Payments Architect multiple Global Locations

Our customer, an established international fintech with a solid reputation and impressive selection of payment and fx products, is expanding their team and seeking a Payments Architect. The role can be based in Ireland, the UK, or the US, with options for remote and hybrid work. They currently serve the cruise hospitality industry with their payments acceptance platform and are looking to expand into similar verticals. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Payment Architect with a strong interest in payments and will play a crucial role in the company's growth as they expand its customer base and enhance its payment acceptance services.

The Job

As a Payment Architect in the Payments and FX Division, your focus will be on delivering client-centred and solution-based services. You will work closely with sales, customer success leads, and services implementation teams to develop payment solutions and support the sales process. Becoming an expert in client needs, product offerings, and industry trends will be a key part of your role. Additionally, you will provide valuable market insights and contribute to developing product strategies for our services. There will also be opportunities for growth as you will be responsible for tackling technical challenges related to deploying and integrating our client's services in the customer environment.


  • Work with internal teams and clients to validate customer propositions.

  • Establish strategic relationships with executives and working-level contacts both internally and externally.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients regarding payment services and proposed solutions.

  • Manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure for extended periods.

  • Collaborate with sales, product managers, and engineers to provide training, demonstrations, and one-on-one customer sessions.

  • Represent the current capabilities of our services and align solutions with our roadmap throughout the sales process.

  • Formulate customer problem statements within the context of broader market needs.

  • Negotiate and advocate for features in our roadmaps to support our sales strategy.

  • Conduct deep dives and investigations into new client requirements and existing operating environments throughout the sales cycle, periodically reviewing them with supporting functions.

  • Work with third-party client vendors to inform end-to-end solution design (when integration with a third party is a customer-specific requirement and not part of the standard product).

  • Produce all client-facing solution documentation, with input from internal teams as required.

Required SkillsĀ 

  • Senior-level experience in the card or electronic payments fields, ideally working for a payment services provider, technology vendor, or payments consulting firm.

  • Experience designing and delivering highly available, scalable, secure, and performant enterprise-level payment gateway/management solutions in an acquirer or payment services provider environment.

  • Knowledge of the payment card industry, including an understanding of PCI-DSS, PA-DSS, and P2PE.

  • Familiarity with software development in an agile environment, as well as technology and consulting practices.

  • Positive work ethic, excellent initiative, and leadership skills.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and negotiation abilities.

  • Excellent people skills, including training, demonstrations, and one-on-one customer sessions.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers and colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • The ability to inspire people to join you on the solution journey.
