Cybersecurity Talent Management in 2023

Based on the Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2023 by World Economic Forum and Accenture, the lack of available talent is one of the significant challenges that concern cyber and business leaders. While cyber talent recruitment and retention continue to be a substantial obstacle for all organizations, the perception gap between business and cyber leaders, however, has narrowed significantly. This recent change signals the alignment on the realities of the cyber labour market.

According to the 2022 Outlook report, it was discovered that 10% of cyber leaders acknowledged a deficiency in the necessary personnel and skills required to handle a cyberattack. However, no business leaders reported facing such a deficit.

In this year’s Outlook report, responses to the same question revealed that 10% of business leaders and 13% of cyber leaders perceive significant gaps in skilled personnel. The higher figures in both groups likely indicate a growing recognition of the talent shortage, rather than a deterioration of the talent issue.
