Fintech, By Women: Who's Running Leadership Roles (Part 3)

Fintech loves to talk about diversity, but fewer people actually check who’s running the companies. This report does exactly that, mapping 171 executive leadership roles across 20 major European fintechs, from CFOs and CTOs to the CEO seat itself, to see who really holds power in the industry. The result is that women hold just 27.5% of leadership positions, and not a single company in the sample has a female CEO.

The headline number is only the starting point. We looked at where women actually hold power versus where they don’t, HR and Legal are close to balanced, while product, tech and revenue-driving roles are almost entirely male. We also sorted all 20 companies into three patterns, Climbers, Consistent Ones, and Droppers, and compared hiring data against real boardroom composition to answer the question most reports skip: is this a pipeline problem, or a promotion problem?

This is Part 3 of the Fintech Diversity Series from PCN x EWPN, built on gender representation data from 20 companies including Stripe, Revolut, Klarna, Wise, Adyen, and Checkout.com.
