For this edition, we caught up with Creative Director, Design Lead and chief-operating-comedian Mark Manzi. Dive into our chat below, as he shares with us everything from his creative process, to his most memorable projects at DS and the one trend he hopes will make a comeback.Â
Where are you from?
Sunniest place in England, Manchester.
What’s your role at DS?
Creative lead and second best at table tennis.
How did you come across the company? What caught your eye?
Simon (our Managing Director) brought me in, we’ve been working together since.
As both a designer and marketer, can you give us a glimpse into your creative process?
Creative process is a tricky one, but can be put into a system that allows creativity to flourish. Research, feedback and create is my routine.
Do you have a favourite project in the DS portfolio which you are most proud of or will always remember?
The rebrand was nice, I also like that the logo is a piece of technology from Manchester.
Which brands do you most admire and how do they influence your work?
Nike and schools like Bauhaus are influential to my work, but usually it’s stuff I see when I’m out and about.
What advice would you offer to aspiring creative strategists?
Work on your personality, your work will be better.
Living in Amsterdam, which aspects of the city inspire you the most?
Friends for sure.
What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
World Rally Championships and my favorite driver at the moment is Ott Tänak.
What trend from the past do you hope makes a comeback?
Disposable cameras, brilliant.
Three artists you always have on a loop?
Duval Timothy, MIKE and Knxwledge.
What’s one item you can’t leave your house without?
My headphones, tragic without.
