Most In-Demand Fintech Jobs in 2026

For nine months, we tracked every open role at 30 of Europe’s leading fintech and payments companies, across engineering, product, sales, compliance, and operations, to build a real picture of where hiring is actually heading in 2026. The headline number looks flat, open roles moved less than 1% between Q1 and Q2, but that stability was hiding a real shift underneath: risk and compliance hiring grew by over 16%, operations grew by 13%, while sales dropped 14% and engineering contracted nearly 8%. Fintech isn’t hiring to grow the way it used to, it’s hiring to protect what it’s already built.

We also went deeper than department totals. The report breaks down the exact job titles driving demand in sales, compliance, and engineering, sizes the available talent pool for each role across the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, and lays out real base salary ranges by role, experience level, and country. On top of that, we cover the specific skills each function is short on right now, from DORA and MiCA compliance expertise to AI governance and algorithmic auditing, the capabilities that are quietly becoming the real hiring bottleneck. Whether you’re building a hiring plan, benchmarking pay, or just trying to understand where fintech talent is actually moving, this report gives you the numbers behind it. Covers hiring data from 30 companies including Revolut, SumUp, Wise, Worldline, Klarna, and Stripe.
