Country Manager, Germany (Payments)
Our client is a European payments company accelerating its DACH expansion and building a senior alumni of payment leaders. They are hiring a Country Manager, Germany, in Berlin to own the German P&L, lead key merchant and partner strategy, and drive growth with a lean, senior team.
As a Country Manager, Germany, you will:
- Own the German P&L, market strategy, and execution with a strong new business focus
- Act as “super key account” lead for strategic German merchants; ensure satisfaction and growth
- Build and maintain senior partnerships (e.g., payment methods, platforms, ISVs)
- Drive enterprise sales cycles; support cross-border upsell with other country teams
- Coordinate with central functions (sales leadership, product, risk, finance, legal)
- Shape local pipeline, forecast, and reporting; maintain CRM rigor (e.g., Salesforce)
- Contribute market intel (pricing, competition, hiring) to inform expansion
- Help hire 2–3 sales roles over time; light people leadership within a lean structure
Qualifications/Required Skills:
- 7–12+ years in payments/fintech with deep German e-commerce market expertise
- Evidence of enterprise sales/partnership wins and key account leadership in Germany
- Comfortable engaging C-levels; strong executive presence and German business culture fluency
- Track record operating in lean, high-ownership environments; builder mindset
- Native/Fluent German; strong professional English
- Berlin-based (or willing to relocate); regular travel as needed
- Familiarity with cross-border flows and major local/international payment methods
- Advantage: experience at leading German PSPs/acquirers or high-growth fintechs
