VP, Sales – Italy
Based anywhere in Italy, with frequent travel to Berlin (Italian Speaking)

Our client is an early-stage fintech built by a founding team with a proven track record – having previously scaled a European payments business to over 100 employees across 17 markets before a successful nine-figure exit – and is currently seeking an Italian speaking VP, Sales to lead the Italian market. The role can be based anywhere in Italy, with frequent travel to the company's Berlin base required during the first year.

The company operates a platform connecting prepaid product brands directly with enterprise clients, covering gift cards, airtime and eCash under a single API. The ideal candidate will be responsible for owning the Italian market from day one, working directly with one of the founders on strategy and commercial execution.

Responsibilities as a VP, Sales:

As a VP, Sales, you will work closely with the founding team. Your day-to-day tasks will contain:

  • Owning the full business development cycle – from initial outreach through demos, negotiation and close.
  • Building and managing a focused pipeline of high-value enterprise partnerships, targeting approximately 5-6 strategic deals per year.
  • Identifying and engaging partners with the potential to generate €10M+ in annual turnover per relationship.
  • Navigating complex B2B sales cycles of up to six months, managing multiple stakeholders across each opportunity.
  • Developing tailored commercial propositions aligned to partner needs across sectors including banking, retail, HR & payroll, crypto and consumer brands.
  • Representing the business at industry events, partner meetings and on-site visits across Europe, with two to three trips per month.
  • Travelling frequently to Berlin during the first year to work closely with the founding team, with the expectation of greater location flexibility as the role and market mature.
  • Working closely with the founder on deal structuring and strategic commercial decisions.
  • Gathering and feeding back market intelligence to sharpen the company's partnership strategy and growth roadmap.

Qualifications/Required Skills for an ideal VP, Sales:

An ideal candidate for the VP, Sales role will need to meet most of these requirements:

  • Experienced in enterprise or strategic B2B sales, ideally within fintech, payments or a related industry.
  • Comfortable managing long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles with patience and discipline.
  • Commercially sharp, able to structure deals, negotiate confidently and close with conviction.
  • Fluent in Italian and English to a professional business standard.
  • Resilient and self-motivated, with the persistence to push through extended cycles and repeated rejection without losing momentum.
  • Hungry to build – looking to create a playbook, not manage an existing one.
  • Highly organised and capable of operating independently in an early-stage environment.
  • A genuine relationship builder who wins trust through substance, not just charm.
  • Willing and able to travel frequently to Berlin, particularly during the first year.
